Climbing, mountaineering and hillwalking are all activities that carry an element of risk. At Rise & Summit, we believe in nurturing a spirit of adventure, and that if we were to eliminate risk or uncertain outcomes (even if that were possible), we would defeat the purpose of the activity.
Our whole approach is to facilitate your adventure, while giving you the skills you need to avoid hazards and to understand and minimise the risks to you and your fellow climbers, hillwalkers and mountaineers. Together we can manage the risk, but we cannot completely remove it.
For those booking our Winter courses, you should also be aware that mountainous environments are especially hazardous when cloaked in snow and ice, with the additional risk of avalanche and other natural hazards. We encourage a culture where, if conditions on the mountain are not suitable for delivering training, we will find alternative locations.
The British Mountaineering Council (BMC), which acts on behalf of walkers, climbers and mountaineers in the UK, offers the following participation statement that we ask you to agree to:
“The BMC recognises that climbing, hill walking and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement.”
Please feel free to contact us to discuss any of the above on 07775 853 348, or email us on firstname.lastname@example.org.
