BLACK DIAMOND TALUS GAITER REVIEW

OVERVIEW

As far as gaiters go for winter walking, climbing and mountaineering, the Black Diamond Talus gaiter is perfect, in combination with a waterproof trouser which has internal snow gaiters.  These are small, lightweight, tough and inconspicuous.  So you will still look cool!

BLACK DIAMOND TALUS GAITER

Having spent a lot of time in Scottish winters and the Alps.  One wants a simple solution to preventing snow from creeping into your boots.  The way I do it is by hooking the internal gaiter of your waterproof trousers on the boot’s laces. Then placing the Black Diamond Talus gaiter over the top.  This prevents the trouser gaiter from popping off the boot, then place the trousers over the top.  This way you can be assured to have dry boots at the end of the day, as well as look cool.  The problem with some of the larger gaiters is that they can creep down whether placed on the inside or outside of the trouser legs.

Black Diamond spend a lot of time on their product design, made for the outdoors by outdoor professionals.  The metal hook that keeps the gaiter in place is very strong and shaped in a way that’s easy to attach to your laces.

It is very easy to place around the ankles, with two popper buttons and Velcro, and no zips to catch your trousers into.

CONCLUSION

Having walked and climbed with the Black Diamond Talus gaiters, these have kept my feet dry.  Ensuring no snow or rain would get into my boots.  Wearing gaiters can sometimes be very uncool, but these are hardly noticeable.  Since being introduced to the Black Diamond Talus gaiter. I have abandoned my other gaiters.  The best things come in small packages!
