Glen Coe conditions – 11 January 2018

The Glen Coe conditions today were a little cooler than previous days, sunshine, blue skies and no wind.  The path from Loch Achtriochtan was clear of snow up to around 650m above sea level.  The path was slippery in places due to verglas that has formed on the stones on the path.  Higher up the snow has consolidated, and it was an easy walk into Stob Coire nam Beith, then up to Church Door Buttress.

Ice has formed in some of the gullies.

The approach up to the buttress was fine.  Snow has consolidated, with some hard slab around.   The descent route was fine too.  There was a team of three climbing Un Poco Loco.

Overall, the Glen Coe conditions were looking pretty good for mixed climbing.
