This course is for the competent hillwalker who has done some Grade I scrambles. Once completed, you will have the tools to take on the more advanced scrambles (Grades II & III) and support others on the journey.

On the Advanced Scrambling Course, we will cover the following areas:

  • Using forms of protection, including ropes
  • Efficient movement
  • Developing your confidence with roping
  • Belaying methods
  • Looking after yourself and others
  • Planning a journey
  • Weather knowledge and forecasting
  • Route-finding and route-selection

The course is 2 or 4 days long, and is run in North Wales or the Lake District. Our client-to-instructor ratio does not exceed 2:1, so that we can give you our fullest attention.

All of our courses are tailored to suit your availability and experience, taking into account any individual needs and fitness levels.

Course length: You can opt to go for a 2 or 4 day long course.  It can be a lot to take in, and some people benefit from the extra few days.

Course Location: North Wales or the Lake District.

Kit: We will discuss any specific kit requirements with you when you make a booking.

Minimum Requirements: You will need to have completed some Grade I scrambles, and be able to use a map and compass. A reasonable degree of fitness is expected, but rest assured this is a course in scrambling, not fell-running!
