Course details
Our 2-day Introduction to Rock Climbing course is aimed at anybody new to climbing, either indoors or outdoors. It is an opportunity to learn to climb real rock, in a structured and supportive environment. It covers the fundamentals for climbing outside. Our introduction to rock climbing course is usually run in either the Wye Valley or the Forest of Dean (Gloucestershire, Monmouthshire), Avon Gorge (Bristol, Somerset), or the Peak District. These areas are perfect for beginners wanting to test out their rock climbing skills. And of course, have fun whilst doing it.
On the Introduction to Rock Climbing Course, we will cover the following areas:
- Rock climbing movement
- Equipment selection
- Safety and protection
- Rope management
- Basic knots (i.e. tying rope into the harness)
- Abseiling
- Route choice
- Climbing grades
- Belaying and lowering
- Ethics
Our experienced instructors will choose the right location as a learning environment, with the right amount of challenge.
