Ben Nevis Conditions – 09 January 2018

The Ben Nevis conditions today were windy and warm.  Some of the snow has consolidated,  other areas have been cross loaded, etc… some instability present.

The view of Castle area:

Ice has formed on Gemini and Waterfall Gully, with the warm temperatures today, not sure if it can be trusted.

The view of Coire Na Ciste:

You can see very little snow in Number Five and Number 3 Gullies, also some ice has formed on The Shroud, again with the warm temperatures, I would not trust it.

The view of the the Douglas Boulder and the Tower Ridge approach, through to Gardyloo Gully. Indicator Wall. Observatory Butress. Orion Face and the Minus Face, and North-East Buttress up high:

The View of The Little Brenva Face:

The North-East Buttress approach has a thin covering of snow, and so do all the other routes, no sign of ice here.

Overall the Ben Nevis conditions were thin, good for mixed climbing, although it feels like early season.
